We attended an evening of traditional Thai dance and Northern food. The greeting party gave a little taste of what was to come. There were low dining tables with spaces underneath for your feet. The food was really good, and just kept coming. In total there were nine traditional dances. This guy was pretty scary.Continue reading “Chiang Mai, Thailand dinner show”

Chiang Mai, Thailand Temple Tour
We have taken some incredible temple tours. Today the first temple was about an hour from the hotel, giving us a chance to see a bit of Chiang Mai. After driving up the side of a mountain, we took a gondola to the top. It was too hazy to see the valley below. However, totallyContinue reading “Chiang Mai, Thailand Temple Tour”
Temple tour in Bangkok
On our first full day in Bangkok we started our morning with a temple tour. We saw three different temple complexes. They were incredible in the sheer size and detail. There were literally dozens of sculptures. Some of the bonsai trees were 800 years old! Everything was beautifully maintained. Just imagine the gold and preciousContinue reading “Temple tour in Bangkok”
A short stay in Istanbul
We left Pedasi in a small plane. It was a a quick trip to Panama City and then a long wait at the airport. After a 12 hour flight we landed in Istanbul for a 24 hour layover. The airport was a good half hour from the city and unfortunately our flight didn’t arrive untilContinue reading “A short stay in Istanbul”
Panama Canal Tour -2026
Our six hour tour started from the Flaminco Marina on the Amador Causeway. From there we took about an hour bus ride to Gatun Lake where we boarded the Pacific Queen to go through three locks. The Panama Canal, which is about 80 km from end to end, was started by the French in 1881Continue reading “Panama Canal Tour -2026”
Water, entering and leaving the house (January 2026)
We use town water. A year ago when we requested connection, it took months before we actually had running water. As we have found out, sometimes during dry season and festivals, there is a lack of water. Therefore, a lot of people have a tank, or more, to have a supply on hand. Then youContinue reading “Water, entering and leaving the house (January 2026)”
The Mango House – January 2026
Two years ago Daryl bought a house that was referred to as ‘the pink house’. Well, it may have been pink at one time but was so faded it looked mostly white. Before anything could be done on the outside, the inside had to be gutted down to the bare walls, actually even inside theContinue reading “The Mango House – January 2026”
DIY Kitchen Stools
A couple of years ago I needed something to do when it was too hot to be out and about, and gave woodworking a try. Daryl and I went to a lumber yard, ‘a guy’ cut six pieces of wood off a log for us and I went to work on them. After a lotContinue reading “DIY Kitchen Stools”
DIY Dining Table – Corotu Wood
Three years ago a neighbour had a large corotu tree fall down in his back yard. It was massive, the diameter of the trunk was taller than me. Our neighbour had a guy, with a six foot chain saw blade, come by and slice up the tree. It made some very nice slabs of wood.Continue reading “DIY Dining Table – Corotu Wood”
A little wood bench – DIY
Way back in the summer of 2021 when we started clearing the property west of the city, there were dozens of trees that had to be cut down, both dead and alive. We have been calling this little summer get away El Parque. Daryl has been busy with that chainsaw. Spring of 2022 we returnedContinue reading “A little wood bench – DIY”
