We did a seven course cooking class that was rather interesting. Our first stop was at a market for fresh produce. We didn’t actually have to pick up the food, but received a tutorial on the different vegetables, noodles and herbs/spices. The market was massive and had so much ready to eat food. At theContinue reading “Thai cooking class, Chiang Mai”

Chiang Mai, Thailand dinner show
We attended an evening of traditional Thai dance and Northern food. The greeting party gave a little taste of what was to come. There were low dining tables with spaces underneath for your feet. The food was really good, and just kept coming. In total there were nine traditional dances. This guy was pretty scary.Continue reading “Chiang Mai, Thailand dinner show”
Michelin Tuk Tuk food tour
What an interesting evening, first a walk to the water bus, then a tuk-tuk for the remainder of our evening. Our first stop was to see a Thai sunset. We then carried on to the food part of the tour. We ate at four Michelin eateries. The first was a very small restaurant and closedContinue reading “Michelin Tuk Tuk food tour”
A short stay in Istanbul
We left Pedasi in a small plane. It was a a quick trip to Panama City and then a long wait at the airport. After a 12 hour flight we landed in Istanbul for a 24 hour layover. The airport was a good half hour from the city and unfortunately our flight didn’t arrive untilContinue reading “A short stay in Istanbul”
Vernon BC will keep us entertained
On this trip to Vernon Daryl and I decided we would do a bit of exploring. Today we tried to go an haskap berry picking place, but unfortunately they are done for the year. On our way we passed a sign that said cider tasting, and of course we had to stop. It’s actually anContinue reading “Vernon BC will keep us entertained”
Alaya Panama, so much more than a restaurant
Daryl and I went for lunch at a restaurant in Cañas called A Taste of Alaya. It is so much more than an amazing restaurant. Its website describes it as “Panama’s first luxury glamping resort and retreat centre”. It is perched on the top of a mountain. After entering the coded gate, we parked partContinue reading “Alaya Panama, so much more than a restaurant”
The quest for a swimming beach
We had been told there is a beach quite close to Playita, out favourite swimming place, that was just about as calm, at Villa Marina. Villa Marina is a lodge and condo development between Playa Playita and Playa Vanao, with a very short drive between them. It is an absolutely stunning location. The grounds wereContinue reading “The quest for a swimming beach”
Learning new baking skills
I had never made a pizza crust using plantains. One day Daryl was reading a blog by an expat and came across a recipe. Just maybe it is possible to have a gluten free pizza crust in our little town of Pedasi. During last trip here a chef made a hamburger bun out of plantainContinue reading “Learning new baking skills”
2019, Living in Pedasi
One of our favourite activities since we have been in Pedasi is walking the beach. The sand is fine and well packed, and seemingly endless. Yesterday we went for a walk and we were the only people, although lots of birds especially pelicans. There was also this little guy. There are lots of pretty sweetContinue reading “2019, Living in Pedasi”
2019, Pedasi, Panama Daryl goes fishing
Daryl was up before day light and headed out for a day of fishing with our neighbour and his wife. I have to say nine hours out in the ocean in a small boat without a cover is not my idea of fun so I didn’t go!! But I am loving the pictures… and theContinue reading “2019, Pedasi, Panama Daryl goes fishing”
